Kia ora! I’m Sharlene Sallabanks, Owner and Cake Artist of Birdsong Kitchen.

Here in my Selwyn Council registered home kitchen, you can hear the birdsong from our mature garden trees in our leafy Springston neighbourhood on the outskirts of Christchurch.

After a 14 year career in Teaching, I decided to chase rainbows and follow dreams after the loss of our 7 year old daughter in 2021. Eva is the inspiration behind Birdsong. 

I couldn’t do this without the support (and often cake structural engineering) of my husband Robin, my son, and everyone who orders a cake. When you order a cake from Birdsong Kitchen, you get a cake made with love as well as support a small business dream.
